Barrack Hussein Obama: What’s in a name?

Much ado about nothing… That is the bottomline over the current “debate” over whether or not it’s improper to make reference to millionaire Senator Barack Obama’s middle name: Hussein.

The wide-eyed Obamabots whine and cry “foul,” “dirty tricks,”and scream “shame on you” to anyone who dares use Obama’s Muslim-friendly middle name. They arch their backs and screech that Obama’s alleged enemies are simply trying to inflame and excite anti-Muslim, anti-Arab prejudices by referring to Obama using his full name.

Obama’s middle name is in honor of his grandfather, Hussein, a secular resident of Nairobi, Kenya. So one has to question if someone of Barack Obama’s stature must hide his heritage, how can we ever tackle the real and far more serious issues that face the nation?

This is certainly not the first incidence of the mainstream media and the public-at-large using a presidential candidate’s middle name: Have we forgotten about George Herbert Walker Bush? William Jefferson Clinton? John Fitzgerald Kennedy? Franklin Delano Roosevelt? Richard Milhous Nixon? Or James Earl Carter?

But now, suddenly, conveniently, it’s politically incorrect and expressly taboo to refer to a leading candidate for president by his given name. The outrage seems extremely politically convenient when you factor in that President Bush’s middle initial–just the initial–has been fodder for the Bush-haters for years. Their repeated usage of “Dubya” over the years drips with sarcasm, hatred, disrespect, and utter contempt.

So when Obama’s wife Michelle and the rest of the Obama camp rushes forward now to squelch those who would commit this middle-name “sin,” it smacks of a thinly-veiled desire on their behalf to quickly divert the attention off of the recent closer examination of Obama’s record and onto petty, meaningless matters.

To quote a line from the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”

If the current Obama cabal can’t stomach a little dose of the name game, how on earth will they react when the post-convention attacks and attention becomes far-more intense and in-depth? It’s going to get uglier before it gets better.

I don’t care what Obama’s middle name is, but I do care about things like who would Obama name to the Supreme Court, who would Obama name to his cabinet, and who will Obama name as his running mate. I am far more concerned with what’s truly in his mind and his past than what’s printed on his driver’s license.

Let’s move on and talk about something that really matters.
