On Obama, Clinton, and McCain: Is there a contest here?
Posted in Uncategorized by bolsonon on April 23, 2008
As the battle royal continues along the road to the White House, a little campaign humor is welcome relief from the constant bickering and blather.
One of the latest jokes making its way around the Internet is attributed to a supposed observation about the presidential race from an outsider from Denmark. I have taken the liberty of cleaning it up just a bit, substituting the word witch in the appropriate places. Enjoy!
“We in Denmark cannot figure out why you are bothering to hold an election. On one side, you have a witch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer, and a lawyer who is married to a witch who is a lawyer.
On the other side, you have a war hero who is married to a woman with a very nice figure who owns a beer distributorship.
Is there a contest here?”

On one side we have 4 smart people who came from humble beginings and graduated from elite colleges and elite law schools andmade something of themselves. They took spouses of their own age.
On the other side you have people born into wealth and/or privilege.
One first broke up a marriage and then married married a man old enough to be her father. The other because of family connections got into and through USNA and flight training collaboration as a POW . He created the illusion of Rambo and Mr. Smith goes to Washington.
The above descriptions are as relavent as those given by our Danish friend.
I would say that the choice is between:
1. A hardnosed policy wonk who does her homework
2. A cool, cerebral, articulate individual who seems to have good judgement and can see the big picture.
3. A hot tempered rebelious scion of a long line of warriors who has captured the imagination of some people.
